Your goal, as the brilliant 6th grader that you are, is to dig up information on the two holidays that are going on. One today, and the other Monday.

Since you are a SUPER SMART SIXTH GRADER this will not be difficult!

Yes, I know Valentine's Day is not a real holiday, but, we're having a party for it aren't we? We just get school off for President's Day. Whatever. You can be cynical about it later in life when you don't get a party, and then you don't get work off.


Here are you questions to research, and then write about in a  paragraph-ish length.

  1. What is the origin of Valentine's Day and what is the origin of President's Day?
  2. How have celebrations of both holidays changed since their inception?
  3. How is Valentine's Day Celebrated in other countries? Do other countries have something similar to President's Day?
  4. What (if anything) does the "holiday of love" have to do anything with (mostly) dead leaders of the United States?
